“The experience over the past two days was really good, and I hope my family will visit Suzhou soon,” said a South Korean tourist who is among the first visitors to SIP after the industrial park launched a two-month special program in late June for tourists from South Korea.
Under the program, SIP recommends three travel routes around Jinji and Yangcheng lakes, where over 100 businesses offer special discounts.
SIP has invited famous social media influencers to experience the services and products tailored for this program, such as taking photos in a cheongsam similar to a costume for Tang Wei in the film “Lust, Caution” and tasting the Wuliangye liquor and roast duck. These social media influencers then released content about their tours in SIP on Xiaohongshu, Instagram and other platforms, which has made the park better known internationally.
SIP has set up service outlets at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and the Suzhou City Terminal of Shanghai Airport Authority to provide inbound tourists with a “gift pack” containing about 100 discounts and privileges for shopping, consumption in catering and accommodation, and cultural experiences.
Concurrently, SIP has enhanced efforts to make payment and tax refunding convenient, and designated personnel to provide services to inbound tourists in foreign languages.
This program, together with China’s visa-free entry policy for South Koreans, has made SIP a hot destination for South Korean tourists.
