On Apr 30, SIP took the lead in Suzhou to implement the new refund-upon-purchase policy, allowing overseas visitors to receive their value-added tax refunds on the spot at the time of purchase.

This marks a significant step that SIP has taken in improving shopping convenience for international visitors, and also an effective effort to stimulate consumption during the May Day holiday.

In April, the State Taxation Administration of China announced to roll out the refund-upon-purchase policy nationwide for overseas tourists. In response, SIP Bureau of Commerce and Tax Bureau swiftly made coordination for Jiuguang Department Store Suzhou and Bicester Village Suzhou to first launch the refund-upon-purchase service ahead of the May Day holiday.

The service allows overseas tourists to receive their refunds immediately after purchase and use the cash for further spending.
