The Quantum Bookstore, China?s first sci-fi-themed bookstore offering interactive experiences, was inaugurated at Harmony Times Square in SIP on Nov 1.

The bookstore gathers the best science fiction resources from around China, including the books by Liu Cixin, a Chinese science fiction author best known for his Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy of novels. It plans to host at least four author events each year, plus regular lectures, seminars and other activities.

The China Science Fiction exhibition opened concurrently. Jointly designed by Beijing Yuanyu Science Fiction and Future Technology Research Institute and Jujing Tiankong (Beijing) Cultural Creativity Co Ltd, it allows visitors to enjoy an immersive experience of the worlds and life imagined by famous sci-fi writers.

Several writers including Wang Jinkang, Liu Cixin, Su Xuejun and Li Yiqian were appointed “l(fā)eading sci-fi readers” on site, and the bookstore signed agreements with Fosun Tourism Group and the Suzhou branch of Bank of Beijing to collaborate in promoting deep integration of finance and culture and organizing sci-fi-themed events.
