Recently, in a tour organized by the Administrative Committee of Suzhou Dushu Lake Sci-Edu Innovation District, the safety management staff and other representatives from 11 higher education institutions in the district visited Oxford Suzhou Centre for Advanced Research (OSCAR) to learn its experience in ensuring laboratory safety.

OSCAR, Oxford’s first overseas physical science and engineering research arm, is locally recognized as an exemplary organization in safety management.

During the event, an OSCAR teacher started the introduction to Oxford’s safety management system with a detailed account of differences in safety laws of China and the United Kingdom, and shared cases to help the visitors know better about OSCAR’s principles and practices in safety management.

The participants also visited OSCAR’s labs for materials, biochemistry and organic chemistry to learn more details about the safety measures for these labs, and discussed challenges in safety managements, trying to figure out solutions together.
