The SIP Working Committee of Suzhou Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee (also known as SIP People’s Congress Working Committee) convened this year’s third meeting on Nov 4, listening to SIP Ecological Environment Bureau’s report on work for environmental protection so far this year.

The report highlighted a series of efforts and achievements in controlling pollution from the sources and improving the quality of water, soil and air, the reform in environmental impact assessment and publicity campaigns designed to raise the public’s awareness of environmental protection.

Based on the report, the committee offered suggestions on furthering environmental improvement, including adopting higher standards, listening to local residents’ voices and enhancing collaboration between all stakeholders.
