During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), SIP promoted a leap-forward, integrated development of culture and sports by improving its public cultural service system and fitness system, significantly enhancing local residents’ sense of happiness and increasing its appeal to tourists.

In SIP, a “4+N” ecosystem comprising citizen centers and other public service facilities is taking shape, and “10-min cultural circles” have formed around communities. Various events such as public lectures, exhibitions and performances are held frequently.

A number of works such as Suzhou Ballet Theatre (SBT)’s shows and Suzhou-native writer He Jianming’s book Returning Home have become cultural icons of SIP.

SIP launched a three-year action plan last year to foster a scholarly atmosphere in a comprehensive way. It has created a variety of reading spaces, and integrated digital readings into diverse scenarios such as Ferris wheel rides. The “SIP Culture on Cloud” platform has recorded more than 1 million registered users with 30 million visits annually.

For the development of sports, well-designed venues, such as Sungent International Tennis Center and Yangchenghu Peninsula Football Park, have been opened, and an intensive fitness service network has been created. A variety of international and domestic sports events are held in SIP each year.

Apart from that, SIP has continuously enhanced its role as a “bridge to the world”. It hosts the iSING! Suzhou International Young Artists Festival, the Suzhou Jinji Lake China-France Culture and Art Week and other events on a regular basis for international cultural exchanges.

In the future, SIP will further strengthen the internal driving force and innovation vitality of the culture and sports sectors, writing a more splendid chapter of its development as a modern, marvelous industrial park.
