Poetic Suzhou (Shiyi Suzhou in Chinese), a new book about Suzhou, was unveiled at the 15th Jiangsu Book Fair on July 4.

The book is an outcome of a three-year action plan that SIP launched this year to advance the building of “Scholarly SIP” in an all-around way. Under the plan, SIP gives support for local publication of literary works.

The book systematically weaves classical literary works celebrating Suzhou across the history, offering an in-depth exploration of the distinctive aesthetics and culture of the city.

At the event, the book was gifted to a number of sub-districts, communities, schools and enterprises.

Yang Xuhui, author of the book, had a dialogue with Wang Jiaju and Li Juchuan, both experts in literature and history of Suzhou, sharing their opinions on cultural inheritance, utilization of historical legacy and cultural innovation in the modern context, and exploring new paths for cultural development of Suzhou.
